Bump is "strange" and measuring big at the top!

Yep, strange is the exact word my mw used yesterday. My bump measured bigger than it's supposed to up next to my chest.

The mw asked TWICE if I was sure I wasn't having twins because my bump is so hard at the top. Mw said I could possibly have fibroids that are pushing everything up, but she said that would have been noticed on one of my scans (i've had 3).

She told me not to worry and that I will probably "grow into the bump" and she will measure me again in 3 weeks and then send me for a scan if she feels I need to go.

Ok, so now I am completely worried about this as she kept on repeating that something strange was going on, although being kind of jokey with me. I always felt my bump didn't look right, so now I am paranoid!

So has anyone else ever had this kind of thing happen? I am considering making a dr's appt to discuss my worries as the bump is very uncomfortable and is causing me terrible reflux and hinders me eating proper meals.

Rocklover - IIRC from other threads, you had a c section before didn't you? Well, I've found this time around (DC2) that my bump is a much different shape to DS ...its quite soft at the c section end and looks quite high underneath my chest - even though am nearly 18 weeks and midwife says uterus is just below my belly button where it should be

I would say post a pic and I can tell you if its like mine or not, but I doubt you'd want it on a public forum! Grin

I feel very high as well and I'm wondering if it is bloat as I am not half as bad in the morning - are you the same?

I had the strange comment from my midwife a couple of weeks ago (approx 36 weeks), though I have the opposite problem to you, all bump at the bottom, none at the top. She just kept repeating "...but it's empty by here" and poking her finger in the 'space'

I think she has just opened her mouth and said it to you without thinking tbh. If there was anything wrong it should've been picked up on your scans surely?

Yes I did have a c-section Puss, but my uterus appears to be quite high up. She kept poking it and saying how hard it was.

I did ask if this meant the baby was growing too big, but the mw gave me an emphatic no.

My bump seems to be constant and doesn't change throughout the day, but I am worried now that I look like a hippo...especially after the twins question.

Buck, I think she did blurt it out without thinking and I think she realised that she had over-egged the pudding by saying so many times it was so strange and tried to make light of it.

But now my mind is not going to let it go until I am measured again in 3 weeks. Grrrr!
