Will #2 come early too?

DD arrived at 33+5. She had to spend a few weeks in SCBU, but was thankfully fine. Grin

My question is, will DC2 arrive early too? At the time they said there was no reason for her early arrival, so there would be no reason to expect any future DC to arrive early, but I met so many people in SCBU who had been there before, it makes me wonder...

Try not to worry. DS arrived at 29+5, follwed by DD1 at 40+1, and more recently DD2 at 38+5 (ELCS).

DD was born at 36 weeks- no apparent reason. She didn't have to go in SCBU.
DS was born at 34+5 with a couple of days in SCBU. He is absolutely fine.
I was obviously much more prepared to have DS early so it was much easier all round (even though DD was not that early it was all a bit of a shock).
I think I was told that I had a 30% chance of it happening again. The consultant wasn't really very helpful actually...good luck!

Same here! Ds1 35 weeks (scbu etc etc) then ds2 at 38 weeks, then dd1 at 39 weeks. Did feel overdue though!
Expecting dc4 in Feb so may make due date! Did wash tiny baby clothes each subsequent time to use reverse psyc! Good luck!

Same here - DS born at 33+6, I'm currently 38+5 with second DC and feeling pretty impatient! Good luck with keeping second one in a bit longer. I think if there was no obvious reason your odds of having a second early one are quite small (something like 30% chance has stuck in my mind, but could be wrong) - you'll see a consultant for your second pregnancy, which is comforting but to be honest mine just said "Well, you might have another early one, we can't tell, see you at 36 weeks!!"

32+2
27+5

No-one can say if it will happen again but you are at a higher risk.

Don't be fobbed off. Ask for a cervical length scan and more frequent appointment with a consultant.

Good luck

Thanks for your replies!

An interesting mix of responses - I will just have to plan for an early arrival & hope for a later one! (although not too late - DD weighed 5lb2oz, I dread to think how big she would have been if she'd gone full term!)

I'm already seeing a consultant (seemingly every month) due to previous MS/thyroid problems, so will quiz him about early arrivals & the "cervical length scan".
