Hello all

Im new to this so be gental with me :)

I was currently on clexane 40mg when i was carrying my daughter back in 2008,
I am now 22 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy and back on them again.

This time im experiacing like a burning/stinging sensation when i inject (not same side i do alternate between sides in tummy and thighs)

Woke this morning and where i had injected yesterday is still very sore :(

Has anyone experianced this same thing?
Never had the feeling before at all its just recently started xx

Hi Chatty,

Am 26 weeks pg, am on clexane 50mg twice a day, and also aspirin 75mg daily. I always inject into my thighs as I just can't bring myself to do so into my tummy. Sometimes it really hurts, sometimes it doesn't, and there have been times that I've had a lot of pain in the injection site for days afterwards. I find its easier to inject if I do it straight after shower/bath when my skin is still warm, or put a warm flannel on the area immediately before I inject. I've also been told that if you need to only inject part of the syringe (like I do) not to express the excess or the bubble beforehand as the excess on the needle can cause stinging, and also ensure that you're very careful removing the cap from the needle as they blunt easily if you knock the end. Having said all of that, it still sometimes really hurts. Its really horrible but its worth it if it means that my baby is more likely to be ok. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I do think its normal for it to sting and maybe even hurt for a while after. Why are you on clexane, if you don't mind me asking? I'm on it because of antiphospholipid syndrome which for me causes mini-strokes, but is also attributed to recurrent miscarriage.
Good luck x

Hi dancing,

Im on clexane because i have factor 5 liden which is clotting of the blood meaning i could get a clot anywhere :( i will be on double the dose in a few weeks not looking forward to it, im glad im not experiancing the stinging/burning on my own i will try the warm flannel later as i do it at 4.30 everyday.

My consultant told me to put the needle fully in so i may just put half in now i never express the bubble i did at first with 1st pregnancy then i read ure not ment to oooppps Shock

See i was ment to be on asprin when pg with daughter but they put me on clexane as i understand it works faster?

xx

You must be as scared as me because of the clot risk, I do feel for you. I always put the needle in fully, only one nasty event when I nicked the muscle (I'm only a tiny little thing!1). My poor thighs are covered in bruises and I sometimes think I'll run out of places to put the needle in. I know its awful, but it helps to know that we're not alone. I'm on the aspirin too to safeguard the placenta. All seems to be going fine with my pregnancy so far, all the things they expect / are concerned about with my condition have not arisen so far, like notches on the placenta, poor growth of baby etc.

Good luck, am here if you want some support or just a good moan Smile xx

:) I am scared but it dosen't help having anxitey with it either as ever pain i get i worry like heck...

Like you im covered in bruises and needle marks now :( i tried cold compress's to stop the bleed under the skin but it didnt work, so now i just suffer with the bruises which dont bother me its just the pain of it now.
Tried your idea of warm flannel wasnt to bad this time was a little sore i feel like im running out of places now ive really got to try and avoid pinning the same area like i did 2day on mistake :(

Thankyou for your advice if you need any on anything if i can help i will good luck xx
