Hello all
I'm 20+2 weeks today with DC3 and on and off for the last two days have had minor period type cramps.
I rang midwife earlier today and she said it sounds normal.
However, since then they have been getting worse. They almost feel like mini contractions. Also, when I wiped myself earlier (sorry TMI) there was a tiny spot of blood in discharge - no other bleeding.
Could it be Braxton Hicks - although I thought they weren't painful at this stage or possibly an Irritable Uterus?
I've been quite blase about it up till now just thinking it's normal stretching pains - but starting to feel worried and not sure what to do now.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Thanks

I should add there's also pain around my hips - particularly right side.

I certainly had Braxton Hicks from a very early stage - although had absolutely no idea they were that at the time.
Wouldn't have described them as cramp-like though. They just felt like a hardening of the stomach.
Not a lot of help - sorry. Hopefully some one else can be of more use.

It could be a urine infection which is causing the cramps, I had same symptoms and went to the gp who told me that it can then irritate the womb. I ant expect it to be a uti as it dint hurt to pee etc but it soon cleared up. Can you ring out of hours doc or NHS direct for some peace of mind?

I would phone the delivery suite and ask for advice at this time of night. I would think it should be checked out to put your mind at rest, if nothing else.

As 4ano suggests it sounds like UTI, can produce painful braxton hicks. however bleeding in preg is not normal and should be checked out.

Call labour ward and ask to go in and be checked for peace of mind. Do you have someone to sit with other dc's?

Are you drinking lots? I have been having BH for a few weeks and they are definitely more uncomfortable if I havent been drinking enough. Drinking lots will also help if you have a UTI.

Take care, hope a more knowledgeable person comes along soon.

oops took me so long to type, some lovely knowledgable people have come along to help.

It does sound like a UTI, they are very common in pregnancy. I would probably give the out of hours service a call if I were you.

LoopyLoupGarou · 21/10/2010 23:03

Hope you've gone in to get it checked, and hope everything's OK. :)
