Anyone else fed up with seeing different mw's all the time??

Just been to see the midwife for a routine appointment at 38 weeks. Yet again someone different, yet again, "your notes look thick", yes I was in hospital for 9 days and had abdominal surgery at 20weeks, "oh, what was that for"...and on it goes.

By the end of all the explanations it is the end of the appointment, with no time to actually discuss what I want to. I know the midwives are under pressure, in fact I work with them, but it would be so nice to have a bit of continuity and actually get something out of the appointment.

Sorry for the whinge, it's just at 38 weeks there really isn't much time left and I just feel so deflated that something so important is pushed into 15 minutes.

I know what you mean. I have seen 2 MWs this week and both have told me totally different things. Like you said, know they are under pressure but it can be a pain, can't it?

i had the same experience in london and then when i moved out of london at about 20 weeks, in my new hospital i always saw the same midwife. i wonder if it's a london thing or a big city thing with all the pressure they're under.

anyway fwiw, even when i was seeing the same mw, i always felt like i didn't get much out of my appointments, becauase all that happened was they tested my urine and bp and that was it. but i took it as a good thing, that nothing was wrong. it was only postnatally that the midwives came into their own and were amazing. and it got me thinking, maybe they didn't spend so much time with me antenatally becuase they were so busy with seeing people who werelike me postnatally (if that makes sense!)

Yup, i'm at 35 weeks now and haven't seen the same midwife twice. No doubt will be a totally different set of faces on the labour ward. Doesn't do much for the confidence does it and yes, i also really hate having to reiterate all my medical history at every appointment.

I'm on my 3rd MW. It was the same last time. Agree that after having ds the support was so much better and I saw the scone one every time. Also you've more chance of seeing familiar face in hospital!
