HELP - Waters, wee or bath water!! TMI

Hello

I'm 39wk with DC2. Last night(from about 6.50-7.20) I had a bath with DS1. At about 9pm I went for a wee, no problems usual trickle..... then went & sat on the sofa & water gushed out - enough to go through pj bottoms (only cotton ones & no knickers on..living dangerously!!) and leave a patch on the sofa. I was obviously a bit shocked & had my poor DH smelling my pj bums. It definitely didn't smell of wee, but seemed quite watery & I seem to remember when waters went with DS1 it was warm & more like pouring cream thickness. So was wondering whether it could be some water that went up me when in the bath & because of there not being much room down there it was held in for longer then when I had a wee it made space for it to gush out.......
Also for the first time this pregnancy, after my bath I went on my birthing ball for about 25mins just bobbing around & rolling on it!! What do you think??? Or do you think it could be waters - i know they say smell is the big give away but if it was bath water then it would have a 'fragrant' smell to it!!
My mum is getting me flustered saying I should call the midwife etc but I'm sure if she examined me she wouldn't be able to tell if it was bit of my waters. Also I'm hesitant to call midwife as I'm a VBAC & my consultant has made it clear that he'd rather csect than induce due to a thin uterus wall. So I don't want to start the clock ticking if it wasn't even my waters!
Sorry for going on & possibly a bit tmi!!
xxxx

Hi bubbakin, it sounds like your waters to me, but I only have my own experience to go on.

The best thing to do is speak to your midwife. I felt silly and thought she might say I'd weed myself, but they can tell really easy and I hadn't!!

Just to be on the safe side, give your midwife a call - they need to give you antibiotics during labour to protect your baby if your waters go a while before labour.

Nothing to loose.... it won't start the clock ticking if it wasn't your waters, they will know!

Good luck xx

Sounds like waters to me too. Although bath water could be trapped in your vagina, there's not that much room in there and it couldn't go any higher!

Definitely call. Have you got a Day Assessment Unit at your hospital? I know that one of the things mine do is check out women who think their waters may have gone.

Sounds like waters to me also. Do call ASAP, stay calm though - you're in good hands.

Best of luck. Am excited for you!

Put a pad on to keep any of the water so they can have a look.

Mine really really gushed and I went to hospital with a towel on. I mean a large BATH towel!

It sounds like your waters to me. I think it's worth getting checked out. I needed antibiotics during labour as my waters had broken more than 24 hours before.

Even though I had also been told I would need a c-section, I wasn't rushed into anything once my waters broke. I just had to monitor my temperature at home to check for signs of infection, which is the risk with premature rupture of membranes. As it happened, I had a natural birth and everything was fine. I was given antibiotics when my temp went up. I was in established labour by this point.

Hope it all goes well for you xxxx

Thank you ladies! Waiting for midwife to call back. We're in very rural area so only have a clinic for a few hours once a week other than that it's community midwives. I am definitely feeling more pressure low down in the front of my bump & the odd twinge but nothing major.
Not sure how they'll know if it was waters as my pj bums have dried off!! I've had pads on ever since & no other drops!!
Will let you know outcome! Once again big thank you for input!!

Without giving too much info - they will examine you too see if any fluid has collected when you have been lying down. I'm excited for you!! x

Spoken to midwife, she doesn't think it was waters as they tend to gush & then everytime you stand/move about you leak a bit more. I've not had that. So think it's either bath water (is it a tardist up there!!) or slight leak. If more goes or contractions start I'm to go to hospital, if nothing happens my own midwife will come out tomorrow to examine the situation!!!
I'll probably still be bouncing on my birthing ball this time next week.
Thanks again & I'll let you know whether it was slight leak or my body guzzling bath water!
