Is it really that bad?

Hi everyone,

Would love your honest opinion on the subject of weight gain, specifically mine. Last night the doctor had such a go at me - I'm currently 30 weeks and I've put on 11 kgs (1 stone 10lbs). Admittedly I've been going along at about 1 kg a month until this month, when somehow I've put on 4 kgs. However, all my clothes still fit me and apart from a huge belly, I look pretty much the same as always everywhere else.

He said things like "when are you going to stop fooling yourself" and suggested that we're all the same in our inability to recognise that we're eating too much. I couldn't believe it - you would have thought that I'd just admitted mass murder.

What do you think? Now I'm going to be terrified everytime I see him, because I'm obviously going to put on more weight between now and the birth.

I'd insist on a new doctor no matter which country I lived in, had I been treated like you had. He was out of line to speak to you that way. He would've been more successful getting his point across if he worked on his bedside manner. If you have to continue seeing him, I'd refuse to be weighed during the next visit and I'd be eating the Mars Bar while saying no to the scale.

Knowing quite a few rugby playing doctors, if this happened it would be because THEY wanted the biscuit/cake/bar rather than any dictatorial obsession with pg womens weight.

Libras - lol! If they were French rugby playing doctors, i'd let them have it, give the Irish team more of a chance :)
