Would it be bad luck/silly to buy our as yet unborn baby a christmas present now?

Baby due mid Dec but could come late - perhaps on Christmas day or even later. I know it will get loads of presents just for being born but you know, I want to get it a christmas present from us, and want to be able to tell it as it grows up what it got for its first christmas. Would it be ridiculous to buy it now before it is born (I am doing all my other christmas shopping now to be organised) or would that be horrible bad luck do you think?

I say go for it! By that point you will have all of the baby stuff anyway, so don't see what it's to do with luck or not. I've been informed that my baby is getting chrismas presents, and it's not even due until Feb!

Happy shopping!

do it.

i am due in the week between xmas and new year. but am getting a few peices for baby, just because if it does arrive before xmas i know the other dd's will want to know why baby Og hasnt got anything.

I would if I were you, if you wanted to do that then you may not get chance if you have baby on time or even a little late and you dont want to rush out last minute after you've given birth. I def don't think it's bad luck, you have lots of things to buy before they arrive this isn't any different. If he/she arrives late after christmas you could give it as a birth pressie or maybe save it for next year? x

Hows about buying a special bauble for the Xmas tree, then it will always be memorable.

iMum · 19/10/2010 18:32

god forbid but, if you lost the baby do you think you will be worrying about a sodding present you bought him/her?

Yellowflowers · 19/10/2010 18:39

you are right iMum, it would be the least of my worries.

Love the idea of the bauble - am going to do that too I think, as once read about getting your child one every year and then they have a lovely collection to take with them when they leave home so they can have all their christmas memories on their own christmas tree.

But there is also a lovely present I have seen in ELC that I am desperate to buy them for christmas.
