Baby laying low on cervix...could it be a sign that labour will start early?

Hi everyone,

I am 33 weeks pg and can feel my baby's head very low at times on my cervix. I can't say that it hurts but I sometimes find myself crossing my legs just in case (silly really but I just do it naturally).

I am just wondering if there is any particular reason for that and if I should mention it to my MW in our next appointment. Is this something that could indicate I will have a labour starting early rather than late?

Would love to hear from anyone out there to whom it happened/happens as well.

Thanks!

Hi Zahara1

I am 33 weeks on Friday and although the baby moves all the time, its mainly
lying on the left hand side, but does kick and move around at the top and on the right also

I have felt something similar to a grinding feeling down below and its almost like when your teeth are sensitive and you get that feeling, i know it sounds wierd and strange to describe !

But because Im not all that good at what the baby's position is I am not sure if this is the head knocking down there or something else?

Thanks NidsC!
That's exactly what I feel although i seem to get it quite a lot and it always worries me. I'll check with my MW next time and see what she says. Baby can't arrive now...it's too soon!

I would say its just because baby is low down.

I am only 23 weeks and I can feel my baby banging into my cervix all the time and have done for weeks. Pretty uncomfortable!

When I had my scan, they said she is really low down and head down already. She hasn't moved up at all the movements are really low down.

Zahara1 - haha I know the feeling as soon as there is a twinge or a strong movement I think is it time .. start panicking ! Grin

CrazyPlateLady - you are lucky baby is in a good position already Smile

I am 35 weeks (on sat) my baby has been head down and partially engaged since week 30 and I have been told by a few midwives that it is because of this I am getting shooting pains in my cervix (ones that take my breath away at times). Your baby is head down and probably quite low. Mine did a full flip over last weekend and is now back to back...the pain in my cervix when he turned made me screech! I wish he would turn back but not looking forward to him doing so.

I am lucky this time. DS was transverse until 37 weeks, I didn't think he was going to turn. We also wasn't engaged which is why I was suprised that he came 10 days early. He was still only 3/5 engaged when I was halfway through labour.

Hopefully this one knows where it is suppose to be earlier. Grin
