I'm 36+2 and wondering about when and if to start taking evening primrose oil. Not sure if it is supposed to kick things off or just soften/tone the uterus and cervix like raspberry leaf tea. I don't want to go into early labour but if it's beneficial and will help things along closer to my due date I'd like to know...
Anyone got good advice or experience of taking this in late pregnancy?
Thanks!

I read about this last night, I am 37+6. It can apparently be used to aid induction as it contains natural prostaglandins. From looking online it seemed to recommend inserting upto 4 capsules of EPO vaginally from 36 weeks and leaving them to disolve overnight. I'm not sure I shall be trying that one, can just imagine waking up in an oily mess!!!

Hmm, yes I've read that as well and I think I'll stick to taking it orally! I've also read you can rub it on your tummy as the prostaglandins can be absorbed that way. It would be good to know it it actually has any effect!

Yep, dd was born on her due date!

You can take EPO orally in the weeks leading up to you EDD.

i knew you could take it from 36 ish weeks but didnt think it was as much as 4 capsules!!! ive been taking 2 capsules vaginally for a week at bed time, i too was worried about the dissolve/mess outcome but its ok they do dissolve fully and the first wee off the day is oily and yes you are in need of a good wash but we do that every morning anyway dont we?!! i am currently 38+4. ive found that i always smell of epo i suppose its like taking garlic its gonna come out through your skin too!! atleast it doesnt smell like garlic!
