Only just put what YOU WOULD LIKE TO LISTEN TO on it - YOU are the only person who knows what music you like.Chances are you will be in too much agony/otherwise occupied to care anyway.

More music than you think you'll listen to. First time I didn't have enough and it was the endless repeating that made me want to scream (well, almost...). Second time I was going to choose 'action' type music (abba!) but in the end I went for stuff I could lose myself in, eg Radiohead, Jean Michel Jarre, Bat for Lashes etc. So anything that you really like listening to that's not too strident (no abba in the end for me) and lots of it. Having said that one of my favourites was Joni Mitchell's Little Green even if it always gets me crying.

DD at 3.5mo has just let out a big fart which rather destroys misty eyed reminiscence of Little Green... Grin.

Have made 4 different playlists for different stages of labour... 1 VERY mellow eg Cocteau Twins, classical for when I need to quietly focus, 1 upbeat for early labour if I feel like dancing to get things going, or for pushing when I need something to keep me going, 1 mellow mix for in between times and 1 singalong mix, again for early labour. DD was born to "You make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman" by Carole King!

How about "I Got You Under My Skin"? by Frank Sinatra?

floozietoozie · 18/10/2010 05:23

Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash for second stage....Wink

"Push it" Salt n Pepper

Both my dd's were born to French band Air's albums. Walkie Talkie is one of them. Fab music and perfect for labour. Good luck!

I took some music in, switched it off within two minutes. Looking back I should have had "the drugs don't work" by the Verve!

notnowbernard · 18/10/2010 11:13

Any music whatsoever would have done my head in completely

I wanted silence

Cakesandale · 18/10/2010 11:16

I needed silence too.

But if you think you are going to be a shouter I'd go for 'Stay too long', Plan B. It's bloody noisy. (And excellent).

ComeScareWithMe · 18/10/2010 11:20

When I was in labour there was no way I was concentrating on my playlist "Oh darling ...scream pant pant just switch to Mozart now I must focus" Wink.

The radio was on in the background during my labour and the only song I can remember was Stuck in the middle Hmm.

notnowbernard · 18/10/2010 11:21

I feel I must add that I myself was far from silent Grin
