What would blood test results show up?

Got home on Friday after a hell week at work to a phone message from the GP saying can I call them on Monday regarding my blood test results. I'm 35 weeks. Is it most likely to be anemia? I have been feeling really tired and have gone off red meat for most of this pregnancy. Just curious as I have to wait until Monday to find out. Thanks.

The same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago, and i was anemic, It was just to say i need iron tablets. I worried all weekend tho.
Try not to worry i am sure it will be the same for you.

Thanks Websticks I'm sure that's what it is. Knew someone on here would have experienced it. Hope the iron tablets have kicked in and you're feeling well.

well to tell you the truth as any mumsnetter would. I now have black poo and constipated lol. (side effects of iron tablets) But not as tired as before.

Iron tablets are vile, I hardly took mine, just tried to eat more red meat.

yes, definitely sounds like anaemia.

Just spoke to doc, my blood sugar is 6.5. Have to have more tests at hospital. God, feel terrible, I've been eating soooo much chocolate. Poor baby. Has anyone else experienced this?

I spoke to my sis who is a nurse and she said get liquid iron as it won't make you constipated.

Hi Oscalito, 6.5 doesn't seem desperately high, even if it were a fasting blood test. I have pre-existing type 2 diabetes (diagnosed on a fasting test with a result of over 7 - no other symptoms, slim, healthy, good diet etc) and now pregnant only increase my insulin dose if it goes above 8 regularly an hour after eating. I've only had any medication for it since being pregnant by the way. Try not to worry, even if you find you have gestational diabetes you may well be able to control it with diet, and if you have to have meds they are safe Smile

Thanks DancingCat. The blood test was taken about an hour after breakfast so it may have been due to that. It's probably a good warning sign for me to lay off the chocolate.
