Only 5 weeks and in jogging bottoms already. Jeans v tight. Have DS(18m) but have had m/c at 12, 8 & 16 wks before he was born. Is it normal for stomach to expand like this so soon?!

Yes, normal

I was sooooo bloated in the early days with DS and with this one (16 weeks atm) and I went into maternity clothes quite early

I actually struggled with the bloat as found it so uncomfortable by the end of the day...changing into my stretchy pjs was just heaven!

Thank you. Have found a pair of too-big leggings for today, think is going tobe dresses for work!

Same here - spoke to the doctor about it I was that worried. It was literally like I looked at the positive test and someone pulled a rip cord on my body!

Doctor said it's hormones, first thing to go is the waist!

I was very bloated from the start, even before my waistline started to go as my uterus expanded.

lucielooo · 18/10/2010 13:15

yep I was very bloated too and had to undo trousers by the end of the day from about 6 weeks.. am 15 weeks now and not really any bigger round the waist and bloating has gone down (most of the time!) as baby has got bigger

PJen · 18/10/2010 13:25

Yes normal! I was size 8 (and at 33 wks my body size is not bigger only a huge bump) but started buying size 14 underwear and clothes as I couldn't bear anything pressing against my skin. Stay comfy and don't worry... :)

TumTumGnu · 18/10/2010 15:57

Oh, I am so relieved that I am not the only one getting bloating! I am 6 and a half weeks and find that everytime I eat my stomach expands an alarming amount. Thankfully it usually goes down after a while but can be very uncomfortable. I have gone out and bought some new work trousers that are too big for me and wear them with a belt so I can let them out after lunch.

Thanks everyone! Wore dress today for work, tights were tight by 7pm!

Have even ditched PJs and am in maternity nightie from last time. Good job we are not Ttc, would be no chance!

It make sense because your digestion isn't very efficient when you are in early PG so you make a lot of windypops.
