Oh bless you for thinking of me!!! Smile

Well, I dont know - twins had never occured to me at all before you lot on here mentioned it and again, I honestly didnt think that was strong history of twins. I remembered another set too, by the way, my grannys nephew. Hmm

Dont know when Ill get a scan, probably ages, am only 7+1 today. Am terribly, terribly ill though. Have spent the last hour crying Blush I know thats ridiculous and embarassing but Im not coping very well with the level of sickness and uselessness this time round!!! thanks again, I promise Ill come back and let you know.

Ah, it couldnt be!! just cant see it!!

booooooooooyhoo · 14/10/2010 20:41

aww, so sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it. i am not sure if this is standard practise but i think if there is a history of twins you can ask for an early scan. i know friends have had early scans for this reason. worth a try and at least then you will know. if it was me i would ring teh GP/antenatal clinic and tell them you think it mightbe and tell them the history.

Oh God, if it is do you want one? Grin

Im in Ireland, I wonder if its the same here. I probably could request it, particulary as I had previous MC but dont know, with the cuts here maternity care has gone to the dogs. One scan for duration of pregnancy and I heard rumours that its not until 20 weeks Shock if thats the case I will of course book and pay for a private one, Ive booked in with my GP so am just waiting on my scan appointment letter and depending on when that is Ill definately arrange something.

I still really cant imagine that happening to us.

Am in maternity clothes full time now though and am gaining weight at a mad rate, despite vomiting about 6 times a day (sorry tmi)

Thanks again!! Smile

booooooooooyhoo · 14/10/2010 20:53

I'm in northern ireland, so you could send one up in the post and it wouldn't cost you too much Grin

oh OP i would love twins, i really would. i have two boys already but i would really love to have twins. i don't know why. Blush

you can certainly ask for an early one. tehre is no guarantee you will get but ask anyway.

Oh I know I sound awful but I wouldnt!! obviously whatever we're given I will be delighted with and love so much regardless but no, given the choice I wouldnt choose twins.

I think its all cute and lovely and romantic in theory but I can just imagine it being really hard work!! am thinking of when my 2 were newborns, as brilliant as it was it was hard work and I just cant imagine having to double it all!! Id also worry about very sensible things like costs of sending two children at the very same time to college, back to school etc..

This is really silly but have you every tried the wedding/ engagement ring on a chain test thing to see how many children you will have?

BarbieLovesKen · 14/10/2010 21:00

Id also worry about not being able to give them all the attention and time they deserve and particulary my poor ds whos only 8 months old now! one newborn, ok but 2? the poor pet will be trying to get a flat on his own!!

booooooooooyhoo · 14/10/2010 21:01

oh, i know, i am only sharing how i would feel. i didn't mean to say you should feel bad. not at all. i was just dreaming for a second there!!

no i have never tried it. have you? are tehy usually accurate? i am no longer with my partner so unless he is feeling extremely generous i don't think i will be having anymore, which is probably why i am extra broody. teh forbidden fruit so to speak.

I am sure you will have enough time to give to them all, no matter how many are in there.

Keep us posted!

geraldinetheluckygoat · 14/10/2010 21:08

sorry to butt in, but have you seen your midwife? How far along are you now? She should have a good idea if you seem big for dates, and if it is twins and you seem bigger than usual, its a good idea to get a scan. My best mate has twin daughters and she had a few issues that needed sorting out quickly, to do with too much fluid and one twin gaining more than the other, it was all ok in the end, but was lucky that it was caught when it was (at twenty week scan).

geraldinetheluckygoat · 14/10/2010 21:14

god sorry that sounded really alarmist, didnt mean to!! sorry!

BarbieLovesKen · 14/10/2010 21:15

I will of course domesticgodess thank you so much too. Your all so excited and sweet!! Ill feel so bad when I disappoint you all Smile.

Oh boooooooooooyho Im so sorry, insensitive cow that I am today but I laughed out loud at your post. I do get what you meant though, Im very like that, always want what I cant have.

Yes! I have tried it - loads!! I usually take these things with a huge pinch of salt and just see it as a bit of fun (very skeptical) but that said, I did it on my granny for instance and it came out 6 boys, 3 girls, which was exactly what she had. I did it on some people in work (not knowing how many dc they had) and it came out exactly right each time (its not in correct order though, I.e. it could say girl, girl, boy - it may not be in that order but is wierdly correct so far.

Have done it or others have done it on me loads and loads over the past 5 years or so. Always, always came out 2 girls and a boy (I have one of each now). Ditto when its done on DH, always the same and we always said if we were lucky enough, we'd love 3. Anyway, sorry for rambling but did it for fun about 2 weeks ago and its changed to 1 boy and 3 girls.

I used to hold it over my stomach when pregnant with ds and it always came up as boy (which he obviously was). This time it shows girl. Stops. and shows another girl.

Again, not "into" this stuff - but thats wierd isnt it!!! that said, it could mc suddenly showing up or who knows, in a moment of madness we may go for another in a few years..

BarbieLovesKen · 14/10/2010 21:17

No it didnt geraldine!! thank you for such good advice! will definately take it on board. Think usually, the people that have the twins are the ones shocked to bits at the scan and never suspected. From what Ive seen, its the ones that are positive they are having twins who are definately having one Grin
