Hello everyone.

I am 39 weeks 2moro, and am being induced in the morning. Does anyone know if they will put the monitor on for any amount of time before giving me the gel?

I was induced with dd2 at 40+10, but can't remember if they just gave me the gel first and then strapped the monitor too me, or if they did the monitoring before letting me have the gel.

Am keen to get in there and just get on with it, so want to prepare myself if I have to be monitored first.

Thanks for reading.

I was monitored before the gel ( induced at 38 weeks with ds1, preeclampsia).
An hour in the morning, an hour in the afternoon, gel at about 7pm iirc.

I think I was monitored for a short time first but that was simply to check for uterine activity (not likely - I was 38wks!). It was only brief and they did it while booking me in so it wasn't wasted time IYSWIM?

Good luck - I hope everything works out well for you tomorrow!

Same with me. Quick check then on with it.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the replies, so I will expect a little bit of monitoring first, just to make sure baby is ok, and not already trying to escape.

Just remembered the consultant has already put the card in my notes that gets filled in during labour, and has already signed off for something at 8:30am, can't remember what it said and my notes are in the car(will have a look later), and got to be there at 8am, so hopefully they will be nice and quick, if they are not too busy.

yes monitored first, then gel, then monitored again
