contracting polio from vaccinated baby

I've heard that it is possible to contract polio from the poo of your vaccinated baby, if your own vaccine is not up to date.

Wondering if it may be possible to contract other things too.

Has anyone any information on this?

I'm pretty sure that the vaccine used in injections is inactivated. You can be vaccinated against polio when pregnant if you never had the vax as a child.

I don't know about other things, but as far as I understood it, it was only an issue if your immune system was in some way compromised. When DS2 had his, FIL was having chemo so we were advised to stay away for a week or so after the jabs (not that FIL would have been changing nappies!) I don't think there's any danger to someone who's healthy, but I'm prepared to be corrected Smile

It used to be an issue when Polio was given via the drops (on a sugar lump if you were lucky!) as the vaccine was live but the new combined injection (hib, diptheria, tetanus and whooping cough + polio)uses only inactivated virus so it shouldn't be a problem.

if you had a vaccine as an injection as a child (should be a mark on your upper arm), then you are immune for life... no one would "re-vaccinate" you if you had a vaccine in the past...
