Just under a week ago, me and the DP moved into our new house but a couple of days before he painted the whole house including our bedroom.

We ventilated well, and even a few days of living there we had our scan and everything was fine, finding out it was a girl. But that night, he shut our bedroom door and now i am worried as it still smells of paint....i haven't felt any flutters in a day. If it still smells, does that mean its still not fumagated?

So worried!!

How far are you?
How often is normal for kicks?
Have you tried a fizzy drink- that always got Ds moving!
Is your sense of smell super sensitive now? Can your dh smell it?
My nose is mutant powered now- I can still smell te nappy I changed over half an hour ago and it's in the outside bin, double bagged!

If less kicks than normal speak to mw.

Emulsion paint is fine as it's water based with no solvents.
Gloss isn't great smell wise but think you'd have to have pretty major exposure for an effect.

I am only 20 weeks, so its just flutters, not real big kicks yet. Yes DH can smell it, but says its not that bad, it just seems to really be quite bad at night.

Yep tried fizzy drinks, just hoping that maybe i missed the flutters while i was moving or something, but don't think i have.

I have a MW apt next week, so fingers crossed all will be ok!!

Thank s

Apparently leaving half an onion in the room gets rid of the smell and fumes. I'm not sure how oniony the room will smell afterwards though, I just remember my friend talking about it when she was pregnant and renovating her house.

I'm currently 20+5 (2nd pregnancy) and I haven't been feeling movement all the time, especially when I'm moving around. She tends to move the most when I have a hot drink.

If it makes you feel any better, in my first pregnancy DH glossed the nursery door (I didn't know) and the smell was horrendous. I panicked to the point of tears thinking that I had harmed my baby by breathing in the fumes. DD is a perfectly healthy 3 year old!

Are you on the Feb thread? I recognise your name.

yellowflowers · 14/10/2010 14:04

movement was really sporadic for me at 20 weeks - def not regular and could easily have a few days without feeling it so try not to worry.

PinkiePoo · 14/10/2010 14:44

Thanks guys...it is so easy to worry. Hopefully all will be ok at my apt next week!

Yes i am on the feb thread slaughtered
