Double loop around neck + breech....any info please

I'm 32 weeks now and had a scan where it was discovered that the bump is breech with a double loop nuchal cord around its neck.

I asked my dr what the chances were of the loop unwinding and bump turning, but she said that because scans this late in pregnancy aren't a rule of thumb, it usually isn't picked up.

I am hoping to have a vbac but have a cut off date of 36 weeks before the powers that be book me in for a caesarean (i assume at 38-39 weeks).

I'm very keen on having a vbac, but don't want to increase the number of loops around the neck by proactively attempting to spin the baby. The consultant has already told me that they won't offer me a ECV because of the loops. I've an anterior placenta, if that makes any difference...

Any thoughts or advice are greatly appreciated!

They should scan again in a couple of weeks and again prior to any birth choices being finalised.

In your place I'd be having an elcs. If baby stays breech then being wound up in the cord could have nasty consequences.

Thank you Loopy and buttonmoon. It's a bit of a gear shift to start thinking about caesareans again! I won't stop preparing for a Vbac also, but will bite my lip and try to be realistic. Grin It does help with both of you describing it as the safest possible option.

i agree i would opt for c.s my friend tried to deliver baby with cord round neck ( they didn't know this at time) and ended up with emcs. Luckily all well and good and baby fine.
