19+4 and no movement

I'm 19+5 weeks in my second pregnancy and I'm not experiencing any baby movement yet. I'm sure in my 1st pregancy I was feeling movement by now, particularly little bubble like sensations. I haven't had anything like that this time and can't help feeling a bit worried. Up to the 12 week point I had 4 normal scans (I had this many due to a missed miscarriage in Feb) and the midwife picked up the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment. Despite these positives, I can't help thinking that maybe something has gone wrong in the last 3 weeks. Probably completely irrational, I know.

I know weight can affect how much movement is felt but I'm not overweight. I assumed because its my 2nd that I'd feel movement sooner.

do you have an anterior placenta?

I do and I didn't feel movement until around week 21-22 and then it was very faint.

Look on your notes.

I've just checked and yes!!! Thanks daisystone

My neighbour didn't feel any movement till 23 weeks with her second and there was nothing wrong so don't worry for another few weeks.

Glad to help! someone on mumsnet helped me out when I had the same concern!

I'm almost 22w with my third, and I've only just, in the last week, started to teel much movement.

You must be due for another scan soon - do you get one in week 20? If you do, hopefully not long to wait and then I bet you can see the movement for yourself!

I've just had my 20 week scan, everything is fine, but I don't feel any movements yet. I'm getting impatient!

Eddie123 · 14/10/2010 10:02

My 20 week scan is a week today so hopefully then I'll see for myself that everything is ok.

It can also be affected by which way the baby is facing. I'm now 23 weeks, and felt a bit of movement at about 18/19weeks (at least i think it was, it's my first so might just have been wind ...) but havent felt anything since.

But at my scan last week i mentioned it to the doctor and she said it's because the baby is facing into my back so while they are wriggling around, its into my back, so i don;t feel it much. She said that as the baby gets bigger i'll start to feel it more, or they might move round.

Hope everything's well at your scan
