Headache.... For 5 days!

I'm 37 weeks and at the mw recently have had increased bp and trace protein in my wee. My platelets are low too and I have swollen feet, hands and face... I've been to see consultant who is not concerned and does not think it's pre eclampsia. I have had a headache though for 5 days and can not shift it... I told consultant yesterday and they brushed it off and reiterated they do not think it's pre eclampsia.... But I can't help worrying as surely having a headache for so long, despite taking paracetemol, is not normal? Has anyone else experienced a long headache like this towards the end of their PG?

Hi There, I have suffered with pre-eclampsia in my 2 previous pregnancies, and a headache is one of the symptoms, usually along with visual distubances, if your bp is raised and you have a trace in your wee, have they taken a blood test? pre elampsia can also affect your blood results. headaches are also a sign of changes in your hormone levels, my BP has been fine with this pregancy although the hospital have kept a close eye on me, apparantly if you have pre eclampsia in the past it is very commpne for a reaccurance so I have been really lucky this time. Try not to worry too much, most hospitals/midwifes keep a very close eye for pre-eclampsia and im sure they would react if they thought this is what was causing your headache, good luck xx

Thanks kitkat I'm probably overreacting as my sister had pre eclampsia very badly. I did have blood taken and the results were fine. My bp was raised from my booking in level but not so high to cause concern. I think I'm just worried as I seem to have most of the symptoms, albeit very mild ie only trace protein, headache but no visual disturbance and swelling. I just can not shift the headache and i'm not getting any sleep. I'd not heard about headache being caused by hormone changes, so hopefully it's just that. Thanks again x

have you tried lying down with a warm flannel on your head to soothe the headache, I find taking paracetamol a waste of time! I also find head massage is very relaxing and takes your mind off the headache cos it feels so nice. try not too worry about pre elampsia as being anxious wont help your BP, but i really do know that is easier said than done x

You're right kitkat paracetomol doesn't touch the sides. Good excuse to get DH to give me a nice head massage! X
