Is it early for head to be engaged??

Hi I am 30+1 and saw the midwife today and baby's head was 2/5 engaged.

Is it normal for it to be engaging this early? Does it bear any relation to when you give birth, or will I just be walking around like John Wayne for the next 10 weeks?!

Had my twins early at 34 weeks but didn't go into labour so all bets are off this time!

Terrified of going into labour early and not being able to have my baby next to me again....

Baby being engaged is not a sign that labour is imminant. I'm 37 weeks and so uncomfortable. Every time I see mw I ask if baby being engaged could possibly be a sign that baby may be on her way out... Every time they say no and I come away disappointed! I'm not an expert but I think you'll be fine x

For 2nd baies (or 3rd!) baby can pop in and out for quite a while - I wouldn't expect an early labour. Didn't your MW explain?

No! But then I didn't ask! Will check with her next time, I have to see her every 2 weeks anyway! Glad its not a sign - nothing is ready! Will get everything ready by this weekend, thats bound to put labour off Grin Thanks for the replies xx

I am 34 weeks and my baby's head has recently engaged. I thought it had and when I went to the hospital yesterday I asked and they confirmed it. MW said I could be early or late - no real way of knowing but that the baby was preparing itself and getting ready.

I like to think I have an organised baby Smile
