Hi all

As my name might lead you to think, I'm in Manchester. Smile

Just thought I'd say hi - I've been reading mumsnet for a little while now but decided to join as we found out last week that I am finally pregnant with our first child after a year and 2 months of trying!

I'm 6 weeks in, due date early June and I'm seeing the midwife at my surgery tomorrow for my first proper appointment. I haven't a clue as to what choices I'll make re: my care and I'm hoping she will give me some tips. I've done a bit of research on here and am thinking St Mary's. I'd like to go somewhere clean and new, and I'm not a fan of North Manchester General, which would technically be my closest hospital - it's a bit old and run down. I also had a poor experience there with a different department.

So far (touch wood) no morning sickness at all, but I am suffering from early waking (4/5 am, can't get back off), my skin has erupted worse than usual (I suffer from mild adult acne), sore boobs and I have been tearful/moody at times. I will take anything it throws at me, just really hoping I'm lucky and will avoid being sick...

Anyhow I look forward to learning loads on here, as I have so much to think about... I spent all year thinking about getting pregnant but nothing beyond that! Wink

Congratulations!

The reality of pg is different for everyone. There's a lot of wisdom on these boards so don't be afraid to ask anything. Especially if you think it's too daft to ask the mw - someone else will have the answer!

Congratulations! I'm 6 weeks pg too and finding these boards an invaluable source of information. Smile

There's a fantastic ante-natal group of ladies who are also due in June here. You are very welcome to join us!

Thanks both - and have joined the June 2011 thread as well!

Congratulations and welcome to Mumsnet! Two of my friends had their babies in St Mary's and couldn't speak highly enough of it. Good luck with everything.
