Very sore stomache - should I be worried

I have a sore stomache, in the middle of my abdomen, not too far above my belly button.

I think I may be getting diastasis recti (splitting of the abdominal muscle) cause I can see a mound forming above my belly button when I use the muscles.

Thing is I am only 33 weeks.

Is this pain something to worry about? Should I get checked out? I have midwife appointment on Tuesday so could I wait till then?

Anyone else had any experience with this?

Not being funny but are you sure it's not the baby poking an elbow out or similar? It can be really quite painful for quite a long time when it happens? At 33 weeks, the room in there will be getting less so when you use the muscles, your movements may just be making the baby squidge around to a different position.

Unless the pain gets loads worse, you could ask midwife on Tuesday but if you're not sure and can't wait or pain gets worse or lasts longer etc, call out of hours gp/midwife etc.

Thanks Lucie - don't think it's baby as it only pops up when I use the muscles and its soft - not like when I can feel the baby - but then again - who knows!!!

Will get it checked on Tuesday - just wondered if it could be anything more serious. I suppose not or I would be able to find more info in Baby books about stomache pain!!!

Thank you

I tore my stomach muscles when pregnant with ds1.... horrendously painful but the obstetrician wasn't a bit concerned about it and it faded after the birth and didn't reoccur with ds2's pregnancy.

Do what I did and ask for an emergancy appointment at the hospital just to have it checked out and ensure baby is alright but don't worry too much.... the later stages of pregnancy are bloody uncomfortable at the best of times and it can be quite frightening sometimes but it's fairly rare that it's anything remotely serious
