What products have you used that have actually worked in reducing the appearance of your post baby stretchmarks?

When i google it you get all these sites advertising expensive creams - which i am prepared to buy, i just have no 'real' evidence that they work apart from peoples testimonies on the website which quite frankly i dont ever really believe are true.

What have you come across or used yourself to dramatically improve the appearance of them?

nothing other than the actual stretch mark laser therapy after littlen gets here, what works for some doesnt others some people swear by bio oil and cocoa butter but nothings for sure.
im 32+3 and ive used cocoa butter everday since i was 14 weeks but still got the odd couple on my bum and thighs, not too many though and i feel better knowing i at least made an attempt at stopping them even if theres no relation Smile

Well theres no point me trying to prevent them now - my belly is plastered with them :( luckily theyr silvery and only a little red in certain lights which i know will fade over the next few months, just wanted to know what others have used once getting stretchmarks to reduce their appearance as theres so many out there claiming to near enough erase them but which ones actually work??

Bio oil made my very very early ones fade a tiny bit, however as things have progressed they are back.

Effectively nothing can scientifically work as stretchmarks are formed in the lower dermis.

Is it worth while using Bio oil? When should I start using it? I'm 15 weeks and beginning to burst out of my trousers, thought the earlier the better?!

Creams and oils don't have much effect on whether stretch marks will form - it's more down to genetics and how you gain weight in pregnancy.

However, using something you like will be nice for you, and will help reduce the itchiness of new stretchmarks.

Nowt for me :(

I'm a skinny minnie too and have them all over. It really is genetic.

I've just gotten used to them. They do fade over time, but I feel that a good body scrub and moisturiser makes the skin feel better, which I think changes my perspective of them.

mine are deeper than anything a bit of cream is going to be able to help. The skin gets torn doesn't it. I got away with none till about 37 weeks, then all hell broke loose!

soppypreggyloon · 08/10/2010 12:47

I had none till 37 weeks then BANG! All over bump. :(
18 months on and they are very very faint and only really noticeable in a strong light. I think they'd look better if I wasn't so pale.
I used burt bees belly butter stuff which was lovely on a tight itchy tummy. Also good on dry hands.

The saggy mummy tummy is another story!
