Is it possible just to ring up a hospital offering private nuchal scans and book? or do you have to be referred by your gp?

During my last pg my gp was very reluctant to refer me and it took an awful lot of prodding on our part to get him to do it.

Fetal Medicine Foundation Just ring one of these to arrange your own appointment. Don't need to do it via GP.

You can do it no problem. Your midwife should be able to tell you where to go, or your local privae hospital will have a Consultant Obsetrician who will do the scans privately - just call the switchboard and they'll put you through. We had ours done locally (in Berkshire) and it cost £100.
