My asthma has flared up, is it safe to take my inhaler?

I'm 29 weeks tomorrow and am just getting over a really bad/heavy cold. It's made my asthma flare up and I feel a bit wheezy and my throat is itchy plus coughing a lot. Can I take my inhaler? I have mild asthma usually and only need to take it now and again (I use the blue one). Anyone know if I should or whether I should leave it?

The blue one is absolutely fine to take!
I have three inhalers and different tablets, all are fine to use during pg.

Thank you, I will definitely take mine then as hopefully it'll help with my breathing.

I was told that it's always much better to use your inhaler than to try to manage without it.

Taken it a few minutes ago and seems to have helped but I feel really shaky now :s is that normal?? I only took 2 puffs.

You need to take your inhaler.

You have the shakes probably because you may not have taken it for a while and you're feeling the very common side effect that bronchodilators give - shakes and fast pulse.

Asthma can become unstable for some women when they're pregnant. I would suggest that you book into the asthma clinic at your GP surgery for a proper review. They can refer you on to the hospital and/or change your inhalers if needed.

My own daughter has terrible problems with her asthma during her first pregnancy and very little with her second.

So, it can be different every time.

I was in the same position as you - mild seasonal asthma. I called my GP one evening as was really struggling and he checked and said blue inhaler is fine. I also feel shaky after using it - feels like I have had too much coffee iykwim. I told my midwife at my last appt and she also said it was fine. Hope you feel better.

Thanks, I'll have to make an appointment I think. I feel awful again this morning but that's partly the cold.
