Maternity allowance confusion! Part time PAYE & Freelance

Hi,

Not sure if anybody else is in the same situation. I teach part time on a PAYE contract 3 days a week and also freelance the rest of the week (between 1-2 days normally). I have one freelance contract that is only for 1.5 days a month or so that I would like to keep it up during my maternity leave. If I have statuary maternity pay from school can I still freelance? Who is the best person to ask about this?

With maternity allowance you can work up to 10 days without losing your pay (they are called keeping in touch day days) not sure if you are technically supposed to do them just for the employer you are getting the SMP.
Prob best to phone the job centre and ask without giving your details.
Do your employers expect you to go in during your maternity leave? Although you don't have to go in it might be worth knowing what they expect from you.
