I am only 6 weeks pregnant so early days yet but am azmazed at how different i feel this time.

Last time, soooo tired I could barely speak.

Morning sickness throughout the day, could not get up in the morning without shaking!

Everything smelt!

I needed cakes, sweets, chocolate.

This time, i am not sick (so far!) and am only tired - apart from that feel fine.

As an aside had a girl first time. No idea what will be in store this time as we not finding out.

How different were your pregnancies?

dd1- morning sickness all day but only until 12 weeks, slightly low bp in the middle , slightly higher at the end & a bit puffy .V neat bump. She had read the 'rules of pregnancy'.

dd2- some sickness, tiredness, dizziness nothing major. Huge all over. Very active and I had to cut back on sugary/high energy foods to keep her calm.

dc3- Major tiredness (slept for 5 months) though that turned out to be a med problem. very active baby again. Neat but large bump.SPD/PGP and on crutches. Loads of BH and very uncomfy.

So v different!

mumatron · 05/10/2010 20:43

ds-extreme sickness and so tired i fell asleep in the middle of a chinese restaurant Blush. put on about 4 stone and went from a size 6 to a size 14. took two years to shift that! indigestion/hb, spd and crutches for last 6 weeks.

dd1- mild sickness until 14 wks no tiredness, even with a toddler. small bump and was back in size 10 jeans 2 days after birth. no hb and much less suffering witht the spd.

dd2-i'm only 29 wks but i have had enough already! not much sickness/tirdness again this time but i have a whole host of new probs :( restless legs/whole body and upset stomach all the time. bump is small again but feels so uncomfortable, like the baby is about to burst out, like in alien.

DC1: lots of nausea until about 13 weeks (with some vomiting), then no major problems apart from quite bad backache.

This time: lots of nausea until about 13 weeks (but no actual vomiting). Terrible backache from quite early on, varicose veins, swollen ankles, more tiredness. I expected it to be easier this time because I'd been through it once already, but I was so wrong.

DS - Utterly exhausted for the first 4 months. SPD in the third trimester. Intermittent heartburn. Fairly easy pregnancy.

DD - Not nearly as tired but horrible taste in my mouth and huge volumes of saliva [ick]. SPD worst in second trimester. Intermittent heartburn. Severe fluid retention from around 5 months. Towards the end, thrombophlebitis in my legs, painful separation of my rectus muscles, and pre-eclampsia. Generally felt crap.

It amazed me how different they could be!

ThatDamnDog · 05/10/2010 21:15

Oh and the piles, with DD, oh my goodness Shock

3plusbump · 05/10/2010 21:19

I'm expecting my 4th and this pregnancy is SO different from the last 3.

Usually I pile weight on but this time I've got a neat bump and at 35 weeks I weigh only 5lb more that I did at my booking appt at 8 weeks! And I actually feel really well! I get tired at night but otherwise I'm 'blooming'!Usually I struggle along, hating every minute of being pregnant...

Funnily enough, DCs 1,2 and 3 are boys and this one is a girl so for me there has been a noticable difference between carrying a boy and a girl...

Octaviapink · 06/10/2010 09:33

DD and DS both identical pregnancies!

snowmummy · 06/10/2010 09:41

All 3 of my pregnancies have been very similar. No sickness but very tired. The only thing is the tiredness seems to get worse with each pregnancy.

beth36 · 06/10/2010 13:59

Very interesting. For some reason you expect them to be the same dont you. I forgot to say what lovely number 2 troubles i am having this time too - how lady like?!

I keep thinking does this mean a boy as different but i think its just a different pregnancy and am readin into it. Not really bothered about the sex and wont be finding out but i find it so exciting wondering what it is...

Both pregnancies - very tired at the beginning and did lots of being sick from about 6 weeks until about 12/13 weeks.

With DS I started getting high blood pressure around 33 weeks and was in and out of hospital until 38 weeks. He was born at 38+3

With DD had no problems and she was born at 40+4.

With both pregnancies I put on about 4.5 stone. But it did all come off again (eventually Grin)

NoahAndTheWhale · 06/10/2010 14:10

Oh and SPD with DS as well. Am a bit amazed I had another one after that pregnancy

naturalbaby · 06/10/2010 14:18

1st and 2nd pregnancies felt exactly the same - both boys

this time i feel totally different but not sure whether it's cause i'll have 3 under 3 and my body has had enough!

skinnymalinkylonglegs · 07/10/2010 13:40

so interesting...I'm only 6 and a bit weeks at the moment, and don't feel anything like what I did with dd. With that pregnancy, I think I slept round the clock for the first 12 weeks, and was throwing-up until the day I gave birth! So far all I have is a major break-out of spots on my face, heartburn and a weird bubbly feeling in my belly.

I'm doing exaclty the same as you beth36 and wondering if the different symptoms mean it's a boy this time. Suppose I'll have the next 8 months to wonder about it :)

Julezboo · 07/10/2010 16:29

All very different!

DS1 - Ovarian cysts found at early scan, kpt growing so had to have it removed when i was 14 weeks gone, then I had UTI's every other week. He was born at 31 wks due to Pre-Eclampsia! Had mild sickness, but only if I ate meat!

DS2 - bled heavily from week 5 to week 20. Again Mild sickness, could eat meat this time but certain smells made me vomit. Waters leaked from 30 weeks, was born by ELCS at 38 weeks nice and healthy at 7lb

DS3 (still in belly!) Sick from 3 weeks preg, horribly, all day, all night, admitted to ward at 9 weeks for a week due to dehydration. The odd days of spotting. 21+3 now and Still sick or feeling sick most days, cant comment on the rest of it yet but I am expecting him to arrive early ish. My aim is to get to 38 weeks!

beth36 · 09/10/2010 20:06

Gosh above sounds very harsh!

Yep and def wondering if a boy espcially as everyone i speak to who has had a boy says they didnt feel sick really in pregnancy. I love the guessing, so exciting.

I hardly feel pregnant to be honest, very odd!

Beth, you musn't worry about lack of symptoms, it's very early days still. Also, I'm pretty sure the hormone levels increase at different rates for each pregnancy so symptoms kick in at different times.

Here is my experience of pregnancy...

DS1 - only early symptom was sore boobs which only lasted a few days. Otherwise I felt fine and dandy. Felt vaguely nauseous around week 10 and strangely my sickness got worse from week 20 onwards. Very neat high bump.

DD1 - no sore boobs and dreadful sickness from 8 weeks until 16 weeks, but I'm sure the tiredness from looking after 2 year old must have contributed. Low bump.

DC3 - am only 7+ weeks and have had sore boobs but mostly gone now. Also pretty nauseous a lot of the time. So, obviously lots of speculation as to which sex it will be but no real idea as so far a mixture of boy and girl symptoms!

bamboobutton · 10/10/2010 09:45

ds - felt like death for the first 5 months, sore boobs, vomiting 10X plus a day etc. then felt fine for the rest of it.

dd - hardly any symptoms, felt a bit queasy and that was it. got really bad spd very early on though, about 16 weeks it started.

beth36 · 11/10/2010 13:37

Thanks, maybe i should count myself lucky then ;)
