Steriod injections

I'm 27 weeks with non ID twins. Hospital has just given me two steroid injections as a precaution in case I go into premature labour (no sign of that at the mo).

They also plan to give me another two at 35 weeks.

Why do I have to have two sets of injections (ie. a total of 4) 7 weeks apart?

I thought you only needed one set (ie. 2 injections close together) to help the lungs 48 hours before delivery?
