34 wks is it to early to buy things

Im 34 wks today and have brought a pram but I feel really bad for buying it.
Should I have waited till nearer due date... maybe I have done wrong buying now... I dont know if I should send it back...or am I just being silly...
When did you start buying things...

I started buying things much earlier as we had a waiting time of 12 weeks for our pram so I ordered it well in advance.

Don't listen to old wives tales and superstitious nonsense. If you want to be prepared before the birth, do it. Much easier now than in 4 or 5 weeks time.

You may deliver early or not feel up to shopping later in pregnancy, why not get it done early?
Some people are superstitious I suppose but not me

I'd probably brought everything with DD1 by about 20 weeks. I was no-where near as organised with DD2 or DD3.

Heaven forbid, but the baby could come early & you may not relish your OH choosing all the stuff you meant to shop for.

This actually happened to a friend in Spain, I couldn't believe that she got to 33 weeks without buying a single thing -- her husband had to blitz buy in a single afternoon when the baby arrived early.

Go ahead and buy. I bought everything way earlier than that. Believe me, in another few weeks the last thing you will want to do is trail round the shops. I would get shopping if I were you. Remember that after 28 weeks your chances of your baby surviving without major physical or mental disability is pretty good - so at 34 weeks you should try and relax and enjoy getting ready for your baby to arrive.

think i had our stuff ordered by about 30 weeks at the latest.

this time with dc2 i'm a bit sad i don't really think we need anything.

i'm 28 wks and have only got sheets and a few bottles left to get. the nursery is decorated and all her clothes are washed and ready to go!

go and shop woman, its the most fun part of having a baby imo

27 weeks for us and we seem to have acquired the entire contents of BiL's garage. Car seat, buggies, clothes... everything. The only thing we need now is a baby.

I shopped from about 24 weeks each time and it was delivered by 7months pg. Sods law dictates some of it is always out of stock so it wouldn't do any harm getting it now.

If that baby comes early you won't be able to go shopping easily anyway. My DS arrived at 37 weeks.

And practice the car seat before you have the baby, unlike us who battled with it in the hospital car park.

i have to say i waited til 30 weeks last time after having a late m/c was v superstitious and thought that after 28 weeks if baby arrived then at least its chances were good!

I'm 35 week and have everything. How have you managed th get this far without buying stuff? Get out there and buy, it is definitely the best thing about being pregnant

Have you put some money aside? It's expensive getting everything in one go, easier to spread the cost over a few wage packets.

I speak from experience, my DH nearly fainted at the till!

Also, not everything can be taken home on the day, you might have to wait for delivery.

When I realised at 30 weeks the delivery date for furniture was potentially longer than delivery date for baby I started to buy stuff, but was superstitious before that.

At 34 weeks even if you go into labour tomorrow the chances are that you will have a successful outcome.

Everyone was shocked that I'd bought nothing at 30 weeks, but got all furniture, pram and car seat in one morning. Bought clothes a couple of weeks later and was ready to go. It really doesn't have to be that difficult!

Had DD at 37wks and my DH ended up leaving the hospital an hour after she was born to buy things as we hadn't got around to most of it yet!
Even if you don't actually buy the things, get catalogues and circle what you want in case someone else has to shop for you.
You might want to do this for things that you're not sure if you want or not too. e.g. I really wanted to BF so didn't get any bottles or sterilising stuff and then had to try and explain to DH what I wanted him to get.

It depends on how superstitious you are - but most people will buy stuff ahead of time to be prepared, and since quite a number of babies are born early, on balance it's better to be ahead of the game!

I am 23+3 and DP and I are all finished apart from a few little bits like blankets and stuff. Waited til after 20 wk scan to make sure there were no probs with bean and then decided to get everything ready. Am a bit of a control freak at the best of times so getting it done now satisfied this part of me but I also feel that getting it done now means we aren't trawling shops etc when more I'm heavily pg and potentially feeling a bit crappy lol

My nan was very worried about this - but we pointed out that itwas also bad luck to have a baby in the house with nothing for them to sleep in and nothing to wear. Also - if something terible happens, well I couldn't imagine any circumstances in which having bought a pram or what not would make that event worse than it would be iyswim?

I'm 30 weeks and have bought more or less everything now. As a friend said to me, if the worst happened, you'd feel absolutely awful whether you've bought stuff or not.

The day after my 20 week scan I bought a pram, load of newborn vests and babygros, breast pump and steriliser!
the trouble is that (like with Xmas) the earlier you start, the more stuff you buy...

im only 14 weeks and managing to hold back on buying anything for baby, but madly stocking up on maternity wear as i want to use the next couple of pay chqs for christmas, and then start buying cot, pram etc..... in the new year. I keep browsing though and finding it hard to restrain myself :)
