Another flu/swine flu question

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and made an appointment to got for my flu jab. I got there and the practice nurse said that I don't need it as I had the swineflu jab last December and that will cover me!

That doesn't sound right to me but she was adamant! I said how long will I be covered for, and she said "for life."

I was very clear I was talking about ordinary flu and she was very clear that she knew I meant ordinary flu and swine flu and the jab I had last year covers both!

Is she right?

Doesn't sound right ot me - aren't they different strains?

no the flu jab we had last year just covered swin flu (uless you had two jabs last year) but even then they update the ordinary flu jab every year to take into account upto date strains. I think the swine flu jab jas not changed except it has been combined with flu. I also asked my practice nurse questions and felt she didnt really know what she was talking about!

Book into to see your GP and ask about getting the jab. At first missing out the part about your practise nurse saying you don't.

I had the swine flu jab last week. I don't think I need to again but the flu one is seasonal, you need it each year. I know this year they are combining the swine flu and normal flu jab. My nurse told me if I want the flu jab I have to wait at least a month after having the swine flu. I'm not having it as that would mean having a double dose this year (whilst pregnant). Hmm
