I think my babybump is a bit odd!

My Baby seems to be staying very very low. All the websites say things like 'baby might be pushing against your ribcage' - but mine's nowhere near. I'm 29 weeks and the baby is just not moving upwards. I don't look pregnant just like i've put on weight on lower belly.

My fundus is measuring 29 weeks so my midwife said not to worry and it might be because i'm tall (5'9") but i met another mum to be this morning, same height as me due a week later and really obviously pregnant looking with bump out in front where it should be.

'm not worried as such as the midwife is happy with the measurements but it's very weird. Any ideas what's going on ladies. Did anyone else carry the same way?

Cheers

Hi,

I am also 29 weeks and although I have a very obvious bump I feel all movements very low down and have yet to experience any movements near to my ribs. I had a growth scan due to low placenta and it was mentioned that the baby was very low down. Once or twice I think she has moved and I have felt a few movements above my belly button but not regularly.
I am not too worried as like you say midwife has never been concerned and movements are regular - I am sure in a few weeks I will be on here moaning about rib pain!

i think my bump is a bit odd looking too but suspect i'm the only one who notices. it's not totally rounded/curved - it actually indents in the middle a bit, making it/me look a bit like the side of the number 8 Confused ! i was a bit disappointed first time round when this happened and hoped the indent would fill out but from memory it never really turned into the picture perfect bump. but i don't care at all as long as baby is happy and healthy in there! i suppose bumps come in all shapes and sizes.

I completely agree sotough i think i'm just surprised as it's not what I was expecting lol

sotough you are not alone mine has an indent in the middle and is kind of flat at the front same as my first but then I never lost my waistline with my first either which looked extremely weird.

smoggii - i saw a lady at the ante-natal clinic the other day who had a bump that was all at the bottom and out front nothing further up and she was very tall so maybe it just gives you more room.

I am 23 weeks and hardly have a bump at all in the morning, by the evening I have a watermelon! Worried it's a food baby....

i am exactly the same, i am 24+4 and my stomach looks like a B from the side...i am 5 ft 8 so maybe being tall has something to do with it? I am also apple shape so although not grossly overweight before pregnancy (a size 14) i think my top layer of fat that is always around my middle masks a bit of the bump?

I envy other lovely rounded pregnant women's bellies and hope mine will look like that eventually but baby is doing fine regardless so what will be will be...

good luck with all your pregnancies Smile

I wouldn't worry. Judging from our NCT Working Bumps group, everyone carries their baby differently. Smile

My husband calls my bump a sqump because he says it is the first ever square bump he has seen!!! This is baby number 3 for me and two previous bumps were round so not sure what's happened this time lol
