Hi

I'm trying to find a maternity bra in a 36/38 J, I tried the only one I could find a Royce but its so uncomfortable I've started wearing an underwire again, but I feel a bit guilty wearing it when everything says it can cause problems breastfeeding.

Any recommendations or advice very welcome, also I need something to sleep in aswell, started to leak now .

Hi

Have a look at figleaves.com or bravissimo.com both cater for the (ahem) larger lady (of which I am one!) Bravissimo also have some shops so you might be able to visit one.

I ordered a elle macpherson maternelle bra and matching (free!) knickers from figleaves yesterday afternoon and it arrived this morning! If you go to the boots.com website and have an advantage card you can get triple points on your figleaves purchase. Fantastic! Check the here if you collect boots points it great.

Lastly the nct do bras and a fitting service.

Hope this helps.

Have you tried bravissimo or figleaves online?

LaineH · 08/09/2005 11:45

I have tried Bravissimo and Figleaves they only stock the really uncomfortable Royce bra or underwires. I normally buy all my bras from Bravissimo, they have a great range, but it seems a 36J non wired bra is really difficult to find even for them.

The NCT do a nursing bra that goes up to a K cup which I have ordered, just hope I don't grow much more

Laine - I was an H cup pre-pregnancy, but my midwife said that there was absolutely no problem at all with wearing an underwired bra throughout, as long as it's comfortable and not digging into you.

I was a 34H when pregnant with DS, rising to J just before birth, and got a comfy bra from John Lewis, don't remember the make--but it definitely wasn't a Royce as I tried that on and also found it v uncomfortable. Mine now back to a D cup by the way!

Hi,
have you tried Bravado bras, they give great support but are also really comfortable. I wore mine all through pregnancy and for ages after as they allow for an increase and decrease in size, they are also great for sleeping in as there are no metal fasteners. I was an F cup but i'm sure they do larger sizes, if you try a google search i am sure there are lost of places to buy online. Hope this helps.

Two from Ample Bosom:

The one here
goes to a J cup, and there are two here , one goes to a J and one to a K cup.

I found the problems really started when I was breastfeeding. You would think manufacturers would realise that if you are H+ and breastfeeding, then you are going to require some serious support! Had a reasonable one from Berlei, but then Bravissimo said they had stopped doing them. I found the whole thing very depressing and was SO pleased to get back into the underwires when I stopped feeding. I hope they've improved since then.

Ample Bosom have the one I bought, I think. It's the 'Radiance' nursing bra in 34J.
Hope you get the, er, support you need!
