Anyone got any round ligament pain advice?

I suffered terribly when I was expecting DD and ended up in hospital for a week so they could scan for a more serious condition (they didn't find anything). I could hardly get off the sofa for about a month and after a few not-very-nice comments from HCPs I came to the conclusion that I was just a wimp. But after going through labour, which was not as bad as the ligament pain, I decided that actually they ought to have done more than just tell me to deal with it.

Now I'm expecting again and the pain started last night :( I was hoping I'd get away with it this time. Has anyone got any tips or advice on how to cope? I can't really spend a month on the sofa with an active nearly-2-yo to entertain. There's nothing that seems to set it off, it just happens randomly. I've got a support belt thingy but it doesn't help that much. TIA!

Ouch, I don't really have any advice but wanted to give this a bump and hope someone with more experience will come along.

Are you definitely sure it's ligament pain as it sounds so severe? Maybe go to your GP and discuss pain relief before it gets like last time (fingers crossed it won't).

Thanks :)

My old MW last time said she thought it was ligament pain and she was really experienced. The hospital thought it might be gastroenteritis because I was being sick, despite me repeatedly saying that I'd been sick for the entire time I'd been pregnant. I think they were just trying to fob me off because they couldn't find anything wrong. Also gastroenteritis doesn't go on for months.

I think I might see my MW on Monday and ask what she thinks. I did speak to her about this at my booking appointment so hopefully she will take me seriously!

Yes my friend just mailed me a link for a new style band called www.lafeenoire.com/hug-a-bump-maternity-support-band-for-spd--back-pain-in-pregnancy--beyond-nude-1290-p.asp and she is in heres continuously. says its changed her whole posture and is working wonders on her back pain so prob worth a punt. Guess anything is with this pain eh!x

My midwife suggested big pants, like spanx, that people wear to hold their tummies in on a night out Wink

She said buy regular ones as not as expensive as maternity pants and just get a size or two bigger. Can even wear over your regular underwear so you're not washing them every night. Not sure how helpful this would be if the pain is so severe though.

Good luck.

Ooh, that has the added bonus of making my bum look smaller! Thanks, will have a look at control pants next time I'm shopping.
