Fetal heart rate?

Hello, I am 20 weeks pregnant and I listen to baby's heartbeat quite often on my home heart monitor. Recently I have noticed that sometimes the baby's heart rate will slow down quite a lot for about 10 seconds ish and the gradually return to normal. This morning it seems to be doing it quite a lot and I am a bit worried. My husband thinks I am being an idiot because I am not a professional...he told me not to call anyone because I am being silly, But to be honest as it's a Saturday and my midwife is sick I wouldn't know who to call anyway...has anyone else had this and is it normal? Thanks in advance for you help/advice :)

I havent had it but could it be the baby moving away from the doppler, as they move about a lot at your stage. I would ring the lobour ward at your hospital because if your woried they will have a listen themselves and as they are experts they will know what they are listening too. Dont be worried about wasting there time. They would rather put your mind at rest. I popped in this morning as I was thinking i had reduced movements, and they were very nice.

How slow does it go,does it give you a number,my daughters goes from anything to 141bmp to over 149..when they are active it goes faster, and when they sleep,it slowers, but if you worried pop along or phone them up..

Thats the only thing with al these gadgets, they can make you worry more..

Thanks for your replies. It's just sort of chugging along as normal, then it will suddenly go very slowly for about 5-10 seconds then goes more or less back to normal again. It seems to happen at random. Im pretty sure it's not me moving the doppler...I have my scan in a few days so I guess I can mention it then.

I was having a listen to mine last night and exactly the same thing was happening. I thought it was just the baby moving away momentarily. As Lilmamma says that's the trouble with these gadgets. Ironically this happened just after I had posted on another thread about how much I love my Doppler!
