So...have you done the Chinese Gender Prediction thing?

It's been right on my first two (boys)...am pregnant with 3rd and (controversially, I know) hoping for a girl. We're not going to find out the sex 'officially', but I've done the chart and it's telling me girl. Just wondered if anyone else has done it, and how accurate they found it?

Right first time, wrong second!

Ulysses · 01/10/2010 12:17

It's gubbins and you probably know that too!

FWIW it came up with a girl for my first and that was correct, but it only ever going to be 50/50. You are as well calling heads or tails for accuracy.

LadyBaiter · 01/10/2010 12:40

Well I did...but I remember conducting this experiment at work when DS2 was due and it was right for about 95% of the other Mum's there, got me thinking.

I find in incredibly accurate. Worked for my first and second pregnancies, and a number of friends' babies too. I also worked out my mums stats for my sister and I - correct. It should be treated as a bit of fun, but still, its quite spooky...

clpsmum · 01/10/2010 12:55

Am on dc number 3 and we know the sex and gender predictor has been right every time for us!

LadyBaiter · 01/10/2010 13:15

It is a bit spooky, how many times it is right!

I conceived whilst on holiday in China, 7days after making a wish to get pregnant on a wish wall. The chinese calander says it will be a girl, if it is I am a believer!

Eglu · 01/10/2010 13:28

I am the same as you OP. I have two boys and it was correct for them. If I get pg this month (which I hope to) then it predicts a girl. I don't see it myself. I think we are boy people. Time will tell.

FindingMyMojo · 01/10/2010 13:45

I've done it once & it was right

yellowflowers · 01/10/2010 13:46

where can I find it - I want to try it

FindingMyMojo · 01/10/2010 13:47

it just predicted this one to be a girl. I'm happy either way but so far I'm thinking it's a boy.

LadyBaiter · 01/10/2010 13:51

One here yellowflowers

yellowflowers · 01/10/2010 13:59

oooh thanks ladybaiter

yellowflowers · 01/10/2010 14:00

oooh it says I am having a boy

nigglewiggle · 01/10/2010 14:05

Right for first, wrong for second.

50/50 here.

franke · 01/10/2010 14:08

I've just done it retrospectively and it was right, right, wrong.

ChooksAway · 01/10/2010 14:13

Oooh! Right so far for each of mine!
Only 15 weeks and 6 days to see if it's right again and I have a girl!
Watch this space :o

Girlsworld · 01/10/2010 14:13

Using this particular version of the chart (there are a few different ones knocking about), it was right for me, wrong for my friend (predicted boy, had a girl!) However just to add to the confusion there is another version of the Chinese gender charts which alters your birth age according to the Chinese New Year date. Hence it puts this chart "out" on some of the months.

I have seen another identical-looking version of this calendar that places all the boys as girls and vice versa!

I am more a believer in the Shettles thing than the gender charts, as at least it's got some sort of science I can believe in [if I squint my eyes] Hmm

PS Hope you get the girl you want. I think it's totally understandable to have a preference prior to the birth. Of course, once the LO arrives they become an actual person irrespective of gender in the sense that you love them just the same, boy or girl, but beforehand, with just a bump to contemplate, it's probably more common to prefer or wish for a certain sex than many people let on.

lucybrad · 01/10/2010 14:20

right on all of mine

Vikks · 01/10/2010 14:24

Got mine right too!!!

MouseCostume · 01/10/2010 14:28

The gender of your baby is a 50;50 chance.

Think the old pregnancy hormones are scrambling your brains dearies Smile

minniebabybel · 01/10/2010 14:30

I'm trying to find out how many parents choose to find out the sex of their baby prior to birth and how many prefer to wait - please answer my super quick survey! www.surveymonkey.com/s/YZP5763
Thanks a lot

Wanderingsheep · 01/10/2010 14:31

It got mine right for DD and it says that I'm having another girl this time! I'm hoping to find out at the 20 week scan on Thursday so I will report back.

LadyBaiter · 01/10/2010 14:48

Oh, please do Wanderingsheep!

Thanks Girlsworld - it's strange, I've always felt like I would quite like 3 boys, but almost as soon as I got a BFP I've been thikning about how much I would like a girl. Probably as this will be our last I'm worried about 'missing out'. Obviously though, once they are here I won't care either way!

Wrong for all 3 of mine lol
