++ protein in urine but low blood pressure

I have been to see my MW this morning and was told I had protein in my urine (although she wrote in my notes ++protein) and glucose. My blood pressure is 90/50. I have bad back ache which is fairly normal for me but it is particularly bad low on the left side and I have SPD.

I also had a case of thrush about 3 weeks ago which, due to the chemist refusing to sell anything to me and having to get a doctors appointment before I could get any treatment, lasted a number of days.

I'm sure this is nothing to worry about but wondered if anybody else has had something similar. I'm 34+3 weeks.

I did bethy I was about 32 wks Mw wasn't worried as the BP was low. I'm 37wks on sat and last two appts have shown my urine to be fine. I'd say if they aren't worried you need not be either Smile

I've just come bak from mw with exactly the same problem. Glucose and protein in urine my blood pressure is also 90/50 and I have spd. I've had thrush all through my pregnancy and am thinking that mayb it's got something to do with that but the mw said she was sending my urine off incase it's a sign of a infection xx

Was your sample 'mid-wee'? Mine kept coming back with all sorts in but that was cos I could only do a little piddle (stage fright). When they sent it off, it all came back fine. Just a thought...

I had exactly the same last week. Was 33 wks. Had protein in wee but low bp at 90/50. Doc told me to come in again a few days later with further wee sample to rule out "contamination". Have also been suffering from thrush using canestan to help that. Had a really good wash and made sure wee sample was midstream. Came back clear.

Thrush could show as protein in urine as it may have 'contaminated' the sample as you weed into the pot. Or urine infection, so the mw should have sent your sample off to be tested. ++protein simply refers to the colour change indicated on the dipstick, it does not mean anything sinister!

i have "trace of protein" at each appointment. My midwife says if you have any discharge, it can mix with the sample and show up as protein.

I've had thrush for months (can't shake it) and so have had protein for ages. They send it off occasionally to check for nothing else, but I don't think they are worried as long as my bp is low (which it is!).

So I wouldn't worry too much. They'll just keep monitoring it and you.
