Hello Everyone

As silly as it sounds, when do babies start kicking? read some threads but not sure of how many weeks they were.

Im almost 17.

Also what are piles and when do you get them and what do you get them from?

lots of women going through pain with them on here!!

thanks! (a clueless mum to be)

I felt both of mine from 17 weeks, but only tiny bits. Got strong from 20 weeks ish.

I didn't get piles Smile

I felt movement from 21 weeks in my pregnancy with DD. This time 17 weeks. They say that you tend to feel movement earlier in subsequent pregnancies,'as you know what to expect (although it's not the case for everyone).

I think Piles (haemorrhoids) are varicose veins around the anus(?) I don't have them but I think you can get them from straining too hard on the toilet and I think that you can get them when you are pushing in labour.

I felt a bit of a fluttery sensation around 18 weeks. Didn't feel proper kicks until another few weeks after that. At first you don't necessarily realise what it is.

Wanderingsheep has it right about piles I think. I didn't get them either.

I have 4 children and never got them, just dont get constipated.(unable to poo )drink plenty of fresh juice and water and have fresh fruit, and you should be ok.

how many weeks pregnant r u ?

Piles are herniated blood vessels around your anus, either inside or out. You can get them from straining, so either constipation or diarrhoea can lead to them. But the hormonal changes and changes to blood vessels in pregnancy also make you more prone to them so some people get them anyway. They can be itchy and/or painful, especially when going to the loo. Creams and suppositories help.

I felt movements from about 17 weeks but couldn't identify kicks until about 19 weeks.

We didn't feel any definite kicks here until 22 weeks and were getting very nervous!! But now that we've felt them, we identify them every day :)

sorry to put a dampener on things, but piles are not all to do with not getting constipated. Granted, that all helps, but I am seriously suffering from piles - I'm about to start a threat - and will probably have to have one surgically removed. BUT the thing is, mine apparently have nothing to do with straining, as I have NOT been straining to go to the loo. Mine appear to be to do with the position and weight of the baby on that area. Ugh. They started when I was pg with my son 6 years ago, and have never gotten much better since, so it was always going to be downhill from there...

I felt definite movements at 17w 5d, but I was later with my first - probably 20 weeks or so.

vmcd I got piles in 1st pregnancy, no straining here either!! Have re-occurred with each subsequent pregnancy, the joy!!

vmcd28 · 29/09/2010 11:59

wigglesrock, it's horrendous, esp when you know you're doing everything right, yet they still occur.

PS, sorry about typo - I'm about to start a thread, not a threat!!

hi lovelykatie - I'm 21 weeks and started to feel things on Sunday just gone. Not really butterflies as such (must have missed those) but more muscular ache where the baby is wriggling about. Think I have felt a few small kicks this week too. I generally feel more aware of the baby inside than before and it's usually active in the evening!!
I' sure you'll feel something soon....:-D

vmcd28 · 30/09/2010 10:25

just to say, the first feelings I got felt like tiny bubbles popping or popcorn being made, then after a few days they got stronger and stronger. Now I feel like I have an alien in my tummy that wont give me much peace. :)

Emsyboo · 30/09/2010 12:29

I started feeling movements around 16 weeks first baby just little butterfly kicks but knew what they were from the doppler, by 20 weeks other people could feel them on my tummy and now he is like an alien squirming and kicking my ribs at 25 weeks.
However when he moves into different positions I can't feel him as much which may be why some people can't feel kicks as much. You'll feel your LO soon enough I'm sure and at the scan you'll prob see them moving around too its amazing!
