Hi I am 15 weeks preg with DC 3 but with a 7 year gap so my memory is a bit foggy.
I am having the usual sickness and mind numbing tiredness which I remember but also seem to be getting a lot of headaches. They aren't that bad but Im taking paracetamols most days.
Is this anyone else has experienced?
thanks

I got my first ever migraine when pregnant 14 years ago. I stil get a lot of headaches which are menstrually related, and also possibly due to low levels of magnesium. I now take a "women's" multi vitamin with added magnesium which helps enormously.

I know this isn't quite what you're asking but since its headaches relating to pregnancy and therefore possibly altered hormone levels, it may be something that you could enquire about.

Hi Jammie,

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and one of my many symptoms are the headaches, which started 2 weeks ago. I have them almost daily, and am really peeved as I have never suffered with headaches before...not even when I used to have hangovers !!!

I've googled it, and headaches in early pregnancy is very normal. The only acceptable painkiller for them is paracetomol, of which I will only take one pill per bout.

One of my many Google results was researchers in the USA finding that if you sniff green apples, it can really lesson the headache...bizarre I know, but I bought 2 bags of apples this afternoon to try and there was something soothing about their scent !!!

Hope they wear off soon.

Hi

I started getting bad headaches almost as soon as I got pregnant. They gradually got more frequent untill I was having a bad headach every day and the paracetamol was not helping much.

I went to see my doctor and he was really understanding and has given me codine as well as doing several tests to check that there was no underlying problem causing them.

Codine is safe to take during pregnancy and works well with paracetamol, so when I get a headach I now take paracetomol then if they don't work on there own I can take a codine tablet.

I was really starting to struggle at work due to daily headaches and I now feel much better.

I would recommend going to see your doctor about this, I initially did not feel comfortable about the amount of paracetamol I was taking and didn't really want to start taking stronger painkillers but he really put my mind at rest.

Hope you feel better soon.

same here, never been a sufferer from headaches at all, but have had them in this pg but not when pg with DS1.have only taken paracetomol once but did wonder if they were caused due to lack of fluid, so do try to make sure i drink a lot during the day obviously the side effect means on the loo even more often!!!

I'm also in my 3rd pregnancy after a 10year gap, and although never experienced headaches with my previous pg, have had virtually daily headaches since week 6. My midwife did advise me to drink more water, but I also found they were helped by more sleep. Not too easy if you're working, but an afternoon siesta really helped!
I'm now at week 21 and the headaches have thankfully disappeared, so hope you start to see an improvement soon.
