Preggers and the coil...

Two weeks ago i went for a smear test and they noticed my coil (not a homone one) had slipped out and then decided to whip it out there and then. Zoom forward two weeks to today and i've discovered i'm preggers. Not having had sex in the last two weeks i can only asume it was before whilst the coil was in.
I am in shock.
My lovely little wriggler has just turned one. We were planning maybe end of next year to start trying again, so it's all a bit odd. OMG!!!!!

Anyone else got pregnant with the coil? I keep thinking the risks about eptopic is higher and i don't know it may all go terribly wrong. My last pregnancy was horrific, how am i gonna cope with a little toddler?

I have heard a similar story involving the coil. I think you will just like every does. These things ae not always planned but you just manage because you have to. SO, they will be what... about 20 months apart? My first two are 26 moths apart so not a huge difference.

I am pregnant now with number 3. Not really planned (but still welcome) and at least you did not have to go to pregnancy calculator and have it return... I kid you not... December Bloddy twenty fifth!! HAve now planned eviction on the 16th December and am very much looking forward to it. Smile

my sister fell pregnant on the coil and when she had her first scan, there was baby and there was coil next to it!

When she went to the doctors, 3 of them were like, well I have never seen this in all my years of doctoring, combined doctor years of about 50!!!

My nephew is now 5 years old and an absolute star, wasn't planned but my sister said she wouldn't change him for the world

Congratulations

Some babies are just meant to be... DSIL fell pregnant the day before her DH had the snip...

I was conceived after my mother had her coil taken out due to an infection.... they hadn't mentioned that sex in the preceding days could result in pregnancy!

As far as I know there are no risks of getting pregnant once the coil is out, only if the coil is still in - but then again burtoc's nephew was ok.

Can I ask how soon after your first baby you were able to have a coil fitted? 6 weeks until this baby comes along, and although I probably won't feel like getting jiggy for a while, it would be good to know when I can get a coil fitted.

I had it fitted about 4 months after DD mainly because i hadn't had a period and then you have to wait for a certain amount of time not having sex to make sure you aren't pregnant before it's fitted! Burt i believe you can have them fitted alot sooner.

I had mine re-fitted at the 6 week check-up after giving birth to DD
