Preeclampsia - When will they induce?

Sil is 38 weeks pregnant. She has bp of 155/96, 2+ protein in her urine and is so swollen that she can hardly move. Despite begging to be induced the hospital will not induce and have told her to continue monitoring her bp/urine and to go back if she has convulsions/blurred vision. Is this normal surely its a good time to induce at this stage in the pregnancy?

TIA

I had this on dd2. I was hospitalised several times for observation and put on medication to control the bp but I wasn't induced.

In the end I went a few days past my due date and went into labour naturally.

Is you SIL on medication?

No she isn't on medication. Its a shame they won't induce as she feels terrible being sick and generally feeling unwell.
