Hi ladies..I am really worried. Saw my gyny yesterday due to having very frequent contractions he gave me a (very painful) internal examination to check my cervix was still closed. Anyway today I have had lots of dark red blood tinged mucus and its clearly a 'show'. Does this mean that the internal is going to bring premature Labour on? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I am desperate to keep my baby in there till 37 weeks. Has this internal compromised this?

Hi Nicky, I'm 16 weeks with DC #3 so don't have any exact experience of what you describe but didn't want to let this go unanswered! I've had quite a few recent "shows" - I was totally panicked but then realised that they always happened after sex or exercise. I checked with the mw and she said that I may have had an "irritable cervix". I remembered that I'd often had similar signs after smears and when I'd had my coil checked. Not sure if it helps much though! Hope you're feeling better.

The show is just one of the signs that labour may be imminent - its(as you know) a plug of mucous that can come away if disturbed although quite often it 'reforms'....keep your eye on things though.

Please get yourself checked out. I had this after an exam and thought it was a show but turned out to be a platenal bleed. DD2 was fine but def worth a trip in.

lisad123isgoingcrazy gosh really how did they treat that? Was it just a mild bleed?

it was a mild bleed, i really thought it was a show, but doc said it had been going on too long, (like a mild period), I was kept in and scaned and kept an eye on till DD2 arrived two days later.
please do get checked
