Hi all you lovely pg people.
I've got a nasty cold and really need some relief. Have taken paracetamol and have done the steam thing, is there anything else I can take or do?
I'm 15+3 with DC2.
Thank you :)

sorry whether youre pg or not the only thing to help with a cold is paracetamol to regulate your temp.
(however I am partial to the odd bottle of night nurse, but thats deffo out).

My other advice would be to stay in bed, put a film on, with a box of tissues and a selection of bad food, and make the most of it Smile

I saw my consultant last week when I had a foul viral infection and he said it was fine to use Otrivine (the decongestant). I'm 17w with twins.

Honey, Lemon, and grated ginger in hot water - as strong as you can take it!

As mosschops says, pregnant or otherwise, it's a virus. There's nothing you can do but treat the symptoms. Paracetamol for the aches and fever, steam for the snot.

Take yourself off to bed and do whatever makes you feel better.

I'm 13+1 and have a hideous clod. AND I have to come into work because no one can cover me. :(

I was devastated when I was told Lemsip was off the cards. I had a warm bath, lots of water and a nap yesterday. Definitely made me feel better.

Soluble paracetamol can help by providing warm fluids along with the paracetamol (it dissolve sbest in warm water).

Hideous clod?! Oops, I meant COLD.

You can get saline nose drops from the chemist that are safe in pregnancy, they'll be in the kids medicine section. They're not great but they're better than nothing. And you're allowed olbas oil.
Good luck, I've just got over a cold and it's horrible. I'm dreading the next five months of pregnancy in cold season and not being able to breathe

Have a bath with lavender in it

I have had a couple of colds and I found putting a spoonful of Vikks in with the hot water for steaming was amazing for relieving congestion (keep your eyes closed though!). HTH and get well soon!
