Confused about dates

Can anybody give me any advice about this?

Ok, I am currently 28 weeks pregnant (according to the scans)and my edd is 19th December but my dates don't add up.

The only time I could possibly have conceived was March 22nd (I realise actually could have happened a bit later) making my due date 13th December.

From the date of my last period (1st march) my edd would 6th December. My periods are erratic and I do seem to have a long cycle.

How is it possible that my scans showed such a late conception? Surely that would mean I conceived 6 days after we actually had sex? Is this possible or do you think the scans were innacurate? I have a high BMI and my notes do state that visibility was poor for scans.

I will be having an elective c-section so will be meeting with consultant to discuss a delivery date. In my area they normally plan for a week before edd (12th December - a Sunday) which means I could be given any date the following week, bringing us very close to Christams. I have 2 little boys and would like to be a little recovered by then so I want to suggest the Friday before (10th December). I don't want to put my baby or myself at risk but I do genuinely feel I am probably a few days further on than they think. My bump is measuring a couple of weeks ahead but I do normally have big babies.
Help!

From what you say I think it is possible that the EDD they've told you is right. However, given the time of year, they may well be amenable to an earlier ELCS date - you can but ask them.

So it's possible to conceive so late after having sex? I thought the sprem only lived a couple of days?

Sperm have been known to survive up to a week I think...and I am another example of tenacious sperms vs immaculate conception!!
