When will tummy button pop out?

I'm 17 weeks pregnant with first baby and I read that the uterus will reach the navel at 20 weeks. Will my tummy button pop out then? I kind of hope it will, because right now I have a small round tummy that I think looks more like podge than pregnant. I don't think I look pregnant yet to anyone that doesn't already know, and I'm still in my existing clothes, although I don't wear trousers to work as can only find mental unflattering harem pants/tapered thunder-thigh trousers in Topshop etc for about the past 3 years, practically. Skirts don't have to fit in the same way trousers do - my skirts definitely sit a bit higher on me than before, but they still fit. Anyway, I'm hoping I start to look pregnant soon as opposed to just a bit plump...it doesn't help that my tummy doesn't feel solid, particularly - there's a squishy fat layer on top of my little solid bump!

I'm on DC3 and mine has never popped out. It's not a given.

You'll soon be lugging around a bump! I seem to stop looking far and start looking properly pregnant at around 24-25 weeks. But then, of course, everyone thinks you're much further along than you are and the 'Haven't you had that baby yet?' comments start.

Enjoy wearing normal people clothes Grin mine aren't going to fit me for some time after this baby emerges!

mine never popped out, with 4,and my dd is 27 weeks and hers hasnt popped out yet.

ThatDamnDog · 25/09/2010 12:57

I can't even find mine when I'm not pregnant, so I'm just grateful to make its acquaintance when it's eventually revealed sometime around the 5 months mark. Popping out would be too much to ask! Grin

I'm 37+2 and its not popped yet, although my bump is solid. Its definitely under strain though!

Ishtar2410 · 25/09/2010 13:11

Mine didn't pop out either and I had three pregnancies. Although I have to confess that my belly has always been 'well cushioned'...

ShowOfHands · 25/09/2010 13:17

Nope, mine didn't pop out either.

DirtyMartini · 25/09/2010 13:24

Me either, stayed in both times even with huge bump.

TooImmature2BMum · 25/09/2010 13:49

Oh well. Maybe will start looking pregnant to myself without 'outie'. Besides, I also hear some people's never goes back in properly (celebrities who have tummy button lifts, for example!) and that would look weird in a bikini (she says hopefully - I will be able to wear bikinis again, won't I?).

Mine just went flat, didn't pop out. As for that bikini, it depends whether you have they type of skin that makes stretch marks, or have the confidence to not care if you are a bit marked or flabby, and wear that bikini with pride anyway!

Mines popping out already and I'm almost 19 weeks. Sometimes it looks like the baby is trying to push my belly out, I fund it quite unsightly when it pokes into my clothes! I may consider putting a plaster over it!

purpleturtle · 25/09/2010 14:41

Mine popped out all 3 times - had anybody told me before I got pregnant that it could happen I may still not have children! Anyway, I can't remember when it happened first time round, although I wasn't in maternity stuff till well after 20 weeks. After DC3 I did joke that my bellybutton would probably be the first sign of another pregnancy!

Lovinmybois · 25/09/2010 15:09

Mine only popped out when I sneezed

PaigeTurner · 25/09/2010 15:25

I had an outie when I was little, but spent so much time poking it back in it became an innie. So I'm thinking mine won't pop for fear of being subjected to the previous trauma!

Mine is like a cave, with an island sticking out of the middle - really attractive...I have a tshirt and jumper on at the mo and I can still see it!!! 27+6 and has been like it since about 20!!
