Im ttc at the moment and am not having much luck, they found I had a small cyst when I had a mc two years ago. They said it shouldn't be any trouble but if I start getting symptoms to go back to the gp.

I'm having a trans v ultrasound next week to investigate and I'm not sure what to expect.

I'm sure I'm going to have to have something removed because my symptoms are pretty strong, I've been having hot flushes at night recently, my appetite is shot, I feel nauseous and sometimes have alot of pain on the right hand side. My lower abdomen is swollen to the right and I bloat like crazy if I eat.
It's so cruel that these are preg symptoms too grr!

I don't know if it's worth mentioning but my periods have been mental too- ranging between 14 days and 24 (they used to e a military 28 days until this January )
also the last two periods were practically painless-usually they knock me out for at least 1-2 full days.

Does anyone have any experience/advice etc on what to expect?
I can't imagine not having dc's it's something I've always wanted :(

I had recently had a cystectomy. I had to go private though, as they would not remove it on the NHS even though I was having symptoms, because it was not big enough. I think it has to be 6cm on NHS and mine was 5cm.

I would expect a trans-vaginal, where they may or may not tell you anything followed by a wait to see a consultant (could be right away or a few weeks later). I should imagine if they find no medical reason to remove it then they will at best agree that based on your symptoms it needs removing and put you on a waiting list. I would also ask them if they will check for endo while they are in there as some of the symptoms you describe are very endo like. Its the same procedure to check for endo so should be no problem for them to do it.

The operation itself is about 30-45 min long and you go under general for it. Its a little painful as they make 3 incisions to do the laparoscopy but generally you should be up and running within a week. It's really no biggie.

Good luck.

Hiya,
I was booked in for an operation under GA to remove a 4cm cyst when I found out I was pregnant. The op was canceled and the pregnancy hormones had broken the cyst down by time of our 18 week scan.
Your cyst sounds quite like mine, very painful on one side, so expect you might be offered an operation to remove it. We were told that the cyst wouldn't stop us having dcs, indeed am 38 weeks pregnant now...so all being well we should meet our little one soon!

Good luck x

I have none now :)

With the endo (and I had a cyst too at the time): very very painful periods with almost no clots
Pain/cramps that we not associated with my cycle
Nausea
Bloating

With the recent cyst:
Severe pain on one side which lasted for a few minutes in which I was unable to move
Nausea
Bloating

With the endo cyst they noted it was a chocolate (i.e. blood filled) cyst which is a trademark of endo. With the recent cyst it was a simple cyst which was not associated with endo. He completely cut out the cyst rather than draining it because he said once you cut it out it can not come back.

Do you have private insurance?

I don't but my dp does through work and as we've been together so long I should be able to go through his. I'm gob smacked how many women I've come across who cannot get painful cysts removed, I wonder if it's a male doctor thing? The only doctor who's taken me seriousLy was a woman..
When my dp's friend had a 3cm cyst in hs testicles he had it out the next week!

Maybe worth checking it out privately, esp as you are in pain. A private gyn will have it out asap. I so get what you mean about it being a male thing...LOL
