Since I had ds (6) our local hospital maternity services have been severely reduced :(

I have to have a consultant led birth due to complications the last two times. So atm I am provisionally booked for stoke mandeville hospital (35+ mins drive). However I am also considering oxford as an option (40 mins drive)

Does anyone have any recent experience of either?

Thanks

Hiya

I had my DD at John radcliffes in Oxford. They were lovely, staff were really helpful even when I changed my birth plan halfway through and demanded drugs lol. Midwifes were amazing and hospital was very clean. Had a ball, rocking chair, bed etc in the labour suite (even though I was mainly on the bed as I exhausted).

The only downside was the food and they did seem slightly overly cautious when discharging me with regards to slightly raised blood pressure (which was probably down to the woman opposite me damnding that the midwife do everything for her all night lol)

Anyway I wish I still lived there as it was a lovely place to give birth and they were very sympathetic when I turned up with contractions but not in fully established labour. They let me stay as it was about a 40 min drive back home and I was terrified that I wouldn't make it back to the hospital in time lol (first birth)
