Hi all,

Feeling a bit concerned so hoping for some helpful words!

On my second pregnancy, about 8 weeks. I've had spotting every couple of days for the last 2 weeks, and last week after the worst episode I went and had an emergency scan - and saw a tiny heartbeat Grin

Since then spotting has continued but today is pretty bloody (sorry if TMI).

Should I go back for another scan? Will they think Im wasting their time? I think what's worrying me the most is I never had spotting during my last pregnancy but I did have nausea, sore boobs etc, and I havent had this at all this time round.

Can pregnancies be so different?

Sorry just rambling now but feeling a bit [sda]

Hi Lobyd
Sorry to hear you are having such a stressful time. I think if you have had more blood today it's probably worth getting in touch with your gp/midwife and being referred for another scan.
That said spotting in early pregnancy is not uncommon. My gp referred me to epu this week and told me that unless I was soaking a pad an hour there was no need to go to a and e and just wait for my epu appointment.
All three of my pregnancies have involved some sort of spotting and all have been different!
hope all is well

Hi Lobyd, for a bit of reassurance I had brown spotting (and a little of red) on and off for 12 weeks (though it got better towards to the end). Am 31w now and again had a little bit the past couple of weeks. I would ring the EPU and ask their advice - it is what you pay your taxes for and if another scan gives you more reassurance then try and get one booked in.

I think we had three early scans, all saw tiny heartbeat, and made me feel so much better. I don't think that anything can reassure you more than seeing that.

Best of luck x

P.S - It is a really good sign that they have seen a heartbeat.

Thank you both!

I know it's a good sign that all was well last week, it's just so difficult when I keep getting this bleeding to stay positive - I think I will try and fit another scan in tomorrow if they will have me.

Good luck with your pregnancies!
