Hi

I just want to check - I've had chicken pox when I was younger. I'm going to a wedding in 9 days time and the bride's sister had shingles about 2 weeks ago - but is getting over it.

I'll be ok won't I?

I'm 23 wks pg at moment.

You'll be fine. You can't actually 'catch' shingles, it can give you chickenpox but if you've had chickenpox then you'll be fine.

Shingles is an autoimmune thing in your body, not something you catch but you can only develop it if you've previously had chickenpox.

BTW, as qualifications, I've had shingles 4 times, once while pg with dd2 (now 10). Shingles whilst pg is not a problem in itself anyway, certainly not for the baby. It can just be worse for you. Typical!

Great - Cheers button and FAB name - but I bet you hear that all the time!

Actually no! It was my nickname years ago and though it annoyed me then I like it now. Reminds me of happy days after preschool watching BM with my mum!
