baby position at 28 weeks

I had my 28 MW appointment and she said the baby is lying head down. I didn't think anything of it but then a silly friend freaked me out by saying, 'ooh maybe it will be really early. It's viable now, you know...'

So I'm a little freaked. Is it common/uncommon for the baby to be in this position at this time? And presumably it can still move around a lot and change position?

Not ready for a baby 12 weeks ahead of time!!

Mine was head down at 28 weeks and still is at 35 weeks.

Mine was head down at 27 weeks and remains this way at 33 weeks. I think it's quite normal, although it can move until 36 weeks. I think you would prefer it to be head down rather than head up because then it has to turn to get into position.

I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with whether it will be early or not.

Thank you both.
